Ed has over 30 years’ experience working in health and social care in the not-for-profit sector and was awarded an OBE in The King's Birthday Honours List 2024 for services to care home residents. Joining WCS Care in 1992, he progressed from Carer to Chief Executive, leading WCS as an award-winning not-for-profit care provider.
Ed is known for using technology and embedding new, innovative ways of working. WCS was the first UK provider to successfully install acoustic night-time monitoring and circadian lighting. He also led the development of WCS's pioneering care village in Warwick, modelled on a Dutch facility, connecting residents to normal life and enhancing wellbeing.
Ed is a carer at heart. He's passionate about helping people live better lives in care homes, and elevating the roles of the amazing people who work in them. He’s helping to build a better kind of residential care for the future.
Outside of work, Ed contributes to the family farm where he lives in the Warwickshire countryside, ploughing fields or helping out with lambing. In his spare time he’s a keen cricketer with a passion for classic cars.
Jo is an experienced marketer with over 25 years' experience, working mainly in the not-for-profit sector. Joining WCS Care in 2016 as the group’s first Head of Marketing, Jo has worked closely with the Board, Executive team and care home management teams to develop the charity’s marketing and communications, progressing to her current role of Director of Marketing and Communications in 2021.
Jo’s always enjoyed stories, from reading to telling them, and she brings this to work where she focuses on injecting story into WCS’s communications; sharing the work of WCS’s frontline teams and residents to reassure future generations of care home residents and families that living in a care home is a positive decision for those who need full time care. Jo is passionate about changing the perception of care by illustrating the great work that goes on in the sector every day.
Outside of work, Jo supports her family with their different passions, from film to sewing, be that supporting the making and promoting of short movies for the festival circuit, to helping her daughter promote her online, print-on-demand marketplace – when she’s not reading of course!
