Castle Brook is a care home that provides long-term residential, and respite, care for up to 88 older people and people living with dementia.
Each household has an open plan living area with a lounge, dining area and domestic-style kitchen. Residents and family members can make their own snacks and drinks, or full meal. They can also get involved in the washing up and other housekeeping activities if they want to.
We furnish all bedrooms, which have floor to ceiling windows, TV and telephone sockets and ensuite wetrooms. There is also a spa bathroom on every household. And for couples or relatives who want to stay together, there are ground-floor double apartments, with their own lounge, kitchenette, ensuite wetroom and personal patio garden.
Castle Brook has a range of community facilities including a cafรฉ, cinema, hair salon, shop, and traditional launderette. Everyone has access to the outdoors so we encourage residents to bring clothing that's suitable for spending time outside. At the front of the home is the cafรฉ patio, while the back garden features raised beds for growing flowers and vegetables, our side-by-side bike and bike track, and outdoor gym equipment. Residents can also get out upstairs on the balconies or bowling green.
There are regular activities including exercise classes, gardening, table tennis, and bowling (on the roof top bowling green). As part of our activity provision, WCS Care employs dedicated Community Musicians who deliver one-to-one or group music-based activities. There's also a weekly choir and church service at the home. And our Memory Maker minibus provides regular, local trips for residents, including those who need to use a wheelchair. We invite relatives to join our trips so families can make new memories together.
The home also uses night-time acoustic monitoring to improve the health and wellbeing of the people living with us.
