Dewar Close provides long-term residential, and respite, care for older people and people living with dementia.
The home has three separate households, each with its own lounge, dining area and kitchenette. We have designed the households in one of three lifestyles based on town, country and classical living. Hobbies, interests and local information are represented in the hallway decorations. This is because the space in-between places creates more opportunities for conversation and reminiscence.
Daily life centres around the living areas on each household with residents coming together to socialise with each other, friends and relatives. You'll find regular activities happening in the living area or we might be outside in the garden where we have a side-by-side bike and dedicated cycle path, as well as a patio area, lawns and raised flower beds. Dewar Close also has a hair salon, as well as our Buddies Bungalow which includes a café.
As part of our activity provision, WCS Care employs dedicated Community Musicians who deliver one-to-one or group music-based activities. And our Memory Maker minibus provides regular, local trips for residents, including those who need to use a wheelchair. We invite relatives to join our trips so families can make new memories together.
Volunteers from The Gift of Years Rugby visit the home to provide services of worship, befriending, singing groups and activities. We also welcome children from the local nursery to the home for intergenerational activities.
WCS Care offers the Relatives’ Gateway service for relatives with the necessary consent in place. This is an innovation that picks up most care and activities in real time, creating text from icons selected by staff. Loved ones and staff can also use the gateway to send pictures and messages, keeping everyone up-to-date anywhere in the world with an internet connection. You can sign into the gateway using the link at the top of the website.
Tara has been with WCS Care since 2014, starting her journey with us as a carer at Drovers House in Rugby before progressing her management career.

Anne has worked in the care sector for over 20 years in a variety of roles, from frontline care to home management.

As Dewar Close's administrator, Nicola is often the first person you’ll speak to on the phone or meet at the front desk when you walk through the doors.
With a background in retail, receptionist work and experience as a special constable for the local police, Nicola has always gravitated to roles that involve helping people. Inspired by her family’s careers in care and her grandma’s positive experience in a care home, Nicola joined Dewar Close in 2018 as a carer before transitioning into her current role.
Nicola enjoys getting to know residents, learning about their life stories and building strong relationships with their loved ones.
Here are just a few of the faces that make up our team at Dewar Close.
No matter what their role is, every member of our team is a carer at heart and contributes to the day-to-day experience of our residents. We know we’re only as good as our last act of care, so we recruit team members who embody our values whilst also simply being themselves, bringing all of their different personalities, interests and passions to work to create a diverse team of carers.
